Blog Post 2: Getting to Know Your Colleagues

The Brains environment is bustling with amazing people. I consider myself honored to be within their midst. At this time, there are 4 teachers and two administrators. You can tell within a few minutes of talking to any of them how committed they are to the furthering the intellectual foundation of a child. Frank, Cindy, and Lea are all dedicated teachers. As I’ve observed them teaching, it is rewarding to see the sparkle in their eye or excitement on their face when a student understands the concept they are covering. It is also heartwarming to see the genuine concern that comes about when a student is struggling. I’ve seen first hand how many students slip through the cracks when their teachers don’t (or can’t) spend the necessary time with them. Its gratifying to know that there are teachers out there who do take the time and invest themselves in these types of students, especially. The other two administrators are in my opinion angels. They handle the liaison between child, teacher, parent, and administration. They are truly the glue of the Best Brains environment. Both women are strong and independent. They are cheerleaders and they are disciplinarians. They never fail to give accolades to those who succeed, and support and motivate those who struggle. I’ve come to love my colleagues. Their strengths and passions motivate me to embody their spirit and actions.

  1. Karishma, I am glad that you are working with such a dedicated staff. I am sure this will make them eager to impart a deep learning experience upon you. Working with colleagues that you get along with and learn from is one of the most important aspects of the work experience.

  2. It's really great to work with people who you can tell are both passionate and skilled at their work. It can be easy to forget that not every workplace has that kind of environment or those kinds of people so it's definitely something to look for in future jobs.
