American Authors

My internship continues to be exciting and interesting.  Wednesday of last week, American Authors, who sing “Best Day of My Life”, came into our office to do a private performance for a hand selected group of winners.  The interns got to look in on the performance as well, and also got a chance to talk with the band for a few minutes before they left.  After they left, our boss had a long discussion with us about professionalism and how to act in the presence of celebrities who come into the office.  Even though we are young adults who may be huge fans, when we are in the office, it is important to remain professional, polite, and not to inquire too excitedly about the stars' lives.  Even though most of us acted professionally, it was definitely still important to go over these points and hear it first-hand from our boss.  In addition, we all got offered tickets for their concert that night, which was very generous.  This was a really great experience for me and allowed me to practice keeping a certain level of professionalism when working with celebrities, which is something I thus far do not have a lot of practice with.

  1. You can even tell that you are acting professionally when writing this post. I would definitely sound much more excited if this were me, so I'm sure your boss would be happy to see this. Nonetheless, you were so lucky to get to see them! Hope you can enjoy other encounters with professional singers in the future.

  2. Your boss gave you excellent advice, and it is advice that you can apply to any situation in the future, whether its an average person or a celebrity. I feel that celebrities are busy with their careers and really want to find professional people to work with so that they're more efficient and manage time well. I like that you got tickets at the end though, it just goes to show that being professional paid off! Can't wait to hear about the future experiences you will have and how you maintain your professionalism!
