Environment/Initial Impressions
My first week at LBI Entertainment has been great. I was a little nervous at first because entering a new and unfamiliar environment can often be intimidating, but my boss has done a great job at integrating the interns with ease. My office environment is casual for the most part, which has definitely helped my transition. Everyone is hard at work, yet still finds time to joke around, and interact with one another. The dress code is what my boss likes to call "casual friday night" or "date night," though the latter has not been that helpful of a reference since most of the interns don't really go on dates. The interns I work with are female, but the majority of interns are male. My office is also mostly comprised of men, but that reflects the fact that there are more men in the entertainment industry than woman, especially in film/tv production. So far, my boss, and the other higher ups, actually want to hear our opinions on scripts and ideas. Another intern and I were given a television pilot script to read and comment on, and were then told to come up with a cast list. I really like they want our input, and want to know who we would cast as specific characters.

I like how your boss described the dress code. If you're looking for powerful women in this industry head over to the costume department!
ReplyDeleteIt's really nice that your input is actually wanted, which can be hard to come by at an internship, especially one in the entertainment industry. It seems like everyone you work with really wants you to have the opportunity to learn about what the company does and make you really feel apart of it. I hope that you continue to enjoy your internship because it seems like you could potentially learn a lot.
ReplyDeleteIt must be really exciting to have a boss who wants to hear your input, especially on a tv pilot that's so cool! Your internship sounds really neat, good luck!!
ReplyDeleteWow how exciting that your boss actually wants to hear what you have to say and is giving you the chance to give your opinion. Sounds like a fun place to work with great opportunities to be made!
