Overcoming Obstacles: SoulCycle

I have been an intern for almost a month now and have contributed a lot to the company. I feel as if I am truly benefiting from the people around me and the tasks I am given on a daily or weekly basis! My employer Abby is starting to give me more opportunities to take control of the companies social media and gain real-life experience through meetings and sale talks. She has praised me for taking control of challenging tasks and always finishing them thoroughly and in a timely manner.

My boss Abby!

In the past few weeks I have been in charge of getting together pictures and information for the Glossi: the weekly newsletter that is posted on the SoulCycle website, Facebook and linked to twitter. I am constantly looking through Instagram to find pictures that riders have tagged regarding our company. It is exciting to see how many people are taking pictures of the studios, classes, soul gear or our bike. Because of the constant flow of pictures, it is essential that I chose the ones that look the best laid out on the page.

In addition to going through Instagram I am in charge of contacting the studio managers to get pictures from the theme rides of the week, birthday pictures, and any other events that should be recognized in the wrap-up. Once they get back to me, I upload the pictures, put them in the slipp and write a small description of the picture.

While this job is somewhat tedious, it is important to our riders and our employees. By sending out this weekly "update" we are personalizing the rider experience and extending the corporate information to the studios and riders. I am proud of myself for taking on such an important task and being able to complete it without any glitches or troubles. After figuring out how to use the system, I found the job enjoyable and fulfilling. Now I am able to complete the Glossi on my own and only need Abby's approval on Saturday night when I am done and submit the completed slipp to her.

The only real challenge I faced during this process was understanding the system and figuring out the best way to present pictures and information so that they are enjoyable to our customers. Even though I struggled in the beginning, it was a learning process and an experience that I will be able to adapt to other challenging projects.
