Week 3: Obstacles at Lionsgate

So far, I really don't have much to complain about. My boss has made an effort to include me in as many opportunities as possible. He took me to a TV Summit where some of the executives at Lionsgate were speaking, and he took me to the premier of America, the new political documentary by Dinesh D'Souza that is being distributed by Lionsgate. Both were great opportunities to bond with some of my coworkers and get to know them outside of the office environment.

Recently I was assigned the task of putting together and updating the CEO's briefing book. They gave me a copy that someone started last summer to look at, but I found it was super out of date and the overall layout was not practical. I have taken it upon myself to completely redo it. This has been a huge project, which I anticipate taking a while to finish. It is essentially a book that will have an overview of the entire company and be used by the CEO and potentially other high up executives. My boss is very particular about how he likes things done, which is fine, but he has been so busy that he has not been able to give me much guidance. I also have to collect information from people in other departments and waiting on them to respond has been a little frustrating. I have had to get creative and find what I need else where, but I think it would be a huge accomplishment to finish this book before the end of my internship, but at this rate it does not seem likely.

I have also started to befriend some of the other interns, by watching World Cup games together at lunch. I was amazed at how diverse the interns are here. One guy I met is from South Africa, another is from Sweden, and others from all over the country.

Overall I'd say my relationships with the people at Lionsgate has improved, but my day to day work has been difficult and frustrating.
