After my fifth week, I have reached the midpoint of my second internship at Industrial Color Brands. Being the Marketing and Social Media intern for four different companies, (Fast Ashleys Studios, Impact Digital, Globaledit, & Industrial Color) I face several obstacles. A frequent problem I deal with is managing my time. For example, when I have to generate a Facebook, Twitter, and blog post pertaining to an event, I have to create each of these three posts for FOUR companies and make them all relate to the "voice" of each company. Therefore, I face difficulty accomplishing this tasks within a certain deadline. In order to improve my time management skills, I store previous social media posts that I have created and use my past work as a reference. I also am exposed to two different types of software that I am not familiar with (Pardot & Salesforce) so I am trying to teach myself how to use these programs as I do daily tasks.
On a lighter note, last week I had the chance to attend an event hosted by my company called the PDN "Curator" party. Essentially, this event was an opening reception that showcased the photography of the winners in the PDN (Photo District News) contest in our gallery. At this event, I took advantage of networking with other coworkers and recieved the chance to talk to the CEO who invited me to go to their next photo shoot in Brooklyn. I also had so much fun hanging out with the other interns. We took pictures at the photo booth and spent time on the beautiful terrace. I am excited to go to more events in the future:)
Alana I totally agree that time management can be especially difficult once in a professional setting But like you said, on a lighter note, that event seemed so fun and very cool to make relationships and connections. Hope you took advantage of that and met some great people! Hope you enjoy the rest of your summer!
