Description of Workspace
As an intern at Fox Sports Radio, I am in an environment that is very foreign to me! I am part time assistant to the editors and the other time assistant to the producers of the shows. During the days that I edit, I am in a room with 4 huge TV's playing different sports channels non-stop. There are two computers in the room, one for the hired editor and one for me, the intern. Essentially, during those times, we watch and listen to the different sports channels, waiting for important plays, goals, or really anything that could be considered noteworthy. At that point in time, we both go in and edit the sound for the important parts, creating a track that can be useful to the hosts of the radio shows to use when appropriate. During the days that I am with a producer, I am actually in a studio with the producer and then the host of the show is in essentially glass sound proof box so he can see us. We communicate by gestures or through the microphones, and it is very cool to see the "behind the scenes" aspect of radio. I have a computer in the studio and I also edit all of the sound to create podcasts that I then put on the Fox website.

sounds very interesting!!
ReplyDeleteI think it's really cool that you are working in an environment so foreign to you. It isn't necessarily easy at first to work somewhere where you don't always know what to expect and it is great that you have really taken advantage of it. It sounds like everything you're doing is giving you great experience and I hope that you continue to enjoy the internship process!
ReplyDeleteYour environment sounds exciting and busy! I find that working in an office that is constantly bustling with people and things makes the workday go faster and the experience even more rewarding.
ReplyDeleteI wish I got a chance to see the behind the scenes stuff. That has always been fascinating to me. Have fun! Take it in!
